Rogaine (Minoxidil) - Drug Treatment for Hair LossFormulas using Minoxidil, such as Rogaine, have been scientifically shown to slow hair loss, while strengthening existing hair. Interestingly, Rogaine and the like, have not been effective for actual hair regrowth. Any growth seems to take the effect of a fuzz on the crown of the head. Up to a year after cessation of Rogaine and Minoxidil lotions, any "fuzz hair" regrowth will be lost. The real application would be generally for retaining what hair is existing if a sustained regiment of constant use were to be applied. It is known that 40% of men and 30% of women will suffer from hereditary hair loss or thinning hair by the age of 40. Those with a genetic predispostion of pattern baldness would be benefit the most from Rogaine use when the first signs of loss begin. As with any medicine or drug treatment, always contact your doctor for problems or side effect possibilities from the use of Minoxidils. Before using Rogaine, tell your doctor if you have heart disease. Minoxidil absoebed by the body can affect the heart. If you planning to use this type of treatment, be aware that should not use Rogaine if the on your scalp is damaged, irritated, or sunburned. This may allow more of the medication to be absorbed by your body, which could be dangerous.
