Ten Tips For The Prevention Of Hair Loss

There are almost as many answers to the question of how to prevent hair loss as there are people to ask about them.

Here are some of the more popular methods of retaining your existing hair.

1. Get plenty of rest! It would seem that not getting enough rest doesn't give your body time to rebuild cells and tissues that get damaged during the course of the day.

2. Try a drink made of bananas, yogurt and low-fat milk in a blender. This concoction--high in potassium and biotin˜has been shone to improve the retention of existing hair.

3. Dietary supplements such as Vitamin B6, zinc & saw palmetto are useful when you can‚t get enough natural nutrition from food.

4. Stress has been proven to be one of the most common causes of hair loss. Do whatever it takes to lessen or remove stress from your everyday life.

5. If possible, avoid alcohol in hair care products. They dry out hair and cause it to be more susceptible to breakage.

6. Massaging the scalp for 10-15 minutes after shampooing will increase blood circulation to the scalp and strengthen hair follicles.

7. Cut down on red meats and fatty foods. Eat plenty of fiber, fruits and vegetables. also drink lots of water.

8. Alcohol and tobacco use can increase hair loss.

9. Cut down on or avoid added salt and sugar in your diet.

10. If possible, avoid perms, bleaching, hair straightening, dyeing, hot curling irons, tight braiding, or hair dryers set on a high setting. Harsh chemicals will dry out and damage the hair strand as well as the follicle and prevent new hair from growing.

There are many more methods of stopping hair loss but these are the more popular ones I have found. As with any medicinal or medically related regimen, you should consult your doctor.

He can advise you of any health problems that might be causing your hair loss, and can usually refer you to a dermatologist if need be to help you stop hair loss.
